Running for Matty. Running for Demelza.

In 2026, our family set ourselves a goal to give back to the charity that supported us through the hardest time of our lives. In 2027, my brother Jake and I hope to do that by running the London Marathon on Saturday 24th April for Demelza.
When my cousin Matty was just 16 years old, he sadly passed away after living with severe cerebral palsy. Throughout Matty’s life, Demelza provided our family with invaluable respite care, giving my auntie and uncle the chance to rest while knowing Matty was receiving outstanding care filled with compassion, dignity and love. After he passed away in 2012, Demelza also gave our family the precious time and space to say our final goodbyes. Even though me and my brother were very young, that kindness has stayed with me ever since.
Demelza does so much more than provide medical support. They help children and young adults with serious conditions and their families make the most of every moment together, offering care, comfort and dignity when it is needed most.
We are running in memory of Matty and to thank the incredible people at Demelza for everything they did for our family. Every mile we run and every pound we raise will help more families receive the same love and support that meant so much to us.
Over the coming months we'll be taking on several fundraising challenges, all with the goal of raising as much money as possible for this amazing charity.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference. Thank you so much for your support.
