I'm running the London Marathon for Demelza

Demelza delivers extraordinary care to extraordinary children who are facing serious or life-limiting conditions, throughout Kent, South East London and East Sussex. Were here for them and their families with expert clinical, emotional and practical support at every step from first diagnosis and for as long as were needed.

When they need us most, well be there; to reassure, to guide and to care. By their side when they feel isolated, helping to create joy in family life during challenging times and making precious memories.

Demelza believes in care that doesn't back down.

For Benjamin and Emily 🤍🤍

Thursday 8th Oct

I am so excited to be running the 2027 London Marathon for Demelza, and hope that I can raise lots of money for the most wonderful charity that is an indescribable support for so many.

I have always been aware of the work that Demelza do, and have previously run the marathon for Demelza in 2018. However, since then, I have witnessed first hand the help they provide to children and their families when they most need it.

On the 12th of May 2019, our much awaited nephew, Benjamin, was born. He was absolutely perfect. Due to unexpected complications during labour, Benjamin had to be admitted into the Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Unit, run by the most dedicated and caring team of staff. He was the strongest little boy during this time. Our hearts were broken when we found out that we would have to say goodbye to Benjamin. He was transferred to Demelza to be cared for. Demelza gave us the space to be together as a whole family for the first time. A bittersweet day; we were able to have our first cuddles with Benjamin, free from wires and the walls of the hospital, but it was also to be our last time to hold him. I will never forget the kindness and care shown to us by the Demelza nurses and staff during Benjamin’s time there.

On the 28th of February 2023, our beautiful niece, Emily, was born. A much wished for baby girl to join our growing gang! She was perfection. Devastatingly, after much time spent at the incredible King’s College London, being looked after by wonderful Doctors and Nurses, Emily was diagnosed with SMA, type 0. Despite Emily being the bravest baby girl, and fighting for so long, we heartbreakingly had to say goodbye. Demelza once again became a haven during the most painful of days. We were able to have precious cuddles with Emily, and to be together as a family, one last time.

Thank you Demelza, for all that you do for families like ours. I hope that I can raise lots of money to help support the invaluable work that you do.

For Emily and Benjamin, I am so proud to be your Auntie 🤍🤍
