By their side when they feel isolated, helping to create joy in family life during challenging times and making precious memories.

Raising Funds For Demelza 🤍
Sunday 26th Apr Hi, welcome to our fundraising page. We’re Anika (mum), Jas (dad) and Alaiya (daughter)x.If you don’t know us well, I’ll tell you a bit about our story and why supporting the Demelza Charity is important to us.
In November 2023 our daughter, Alaiya was born. We thought she was the most perfect thing, a healthy little blessing, we looked forward to enjoying our first baby’s newborn stage.
Unfortunately at 12 days old Alaiya had a neonatal collapse and was hours away from passing away due to undiagnosed/ missed heart defects. Luckily she was saved and spent the next 7 weeks in a London hospital having open heart surgery and catheters. Unfortunately though, after her third operation Alaiya suffered a stroke that has left her with weakness on her right side. And most recently a Cerebral Palsy diagnosis due to the effects of the stroke.
Life with our baby girl was not what we had envisioned with a life limiting condition, tube feeding, multiple medical appointments, seizures, medications etc. But the help we have received from the Demelza charity has been amazing. We often use their hydrotherapy pool which is great for encouraging Alaiya to use her right side. We’ve even had a course of hydrotherapy physiotherapy that benefited Alaiya in many ways.
The events, facilities and classes that Demelza have not only offer support for us as parents but give Alaiya opportunities she otherwise wouldn’t be able to get.
Having a medically complex child is tough for all involved but charity’s like Demelza make it that bit more manageable.
So for Father’s Day this year I am gifting our little family the gift of raising money for Demelza because if we can then we should. So if you are able to donate even a £1 today, that will help this charity continue to do amazing things for amazing children.
